Description

Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse located on Main Street in Ashby de la Launde, dating from the early 18th century and early 19th century, with some 20th-century alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, featuring ashlar and brick dressings, and has plain tile roofs with ashlar coped gables. It includes a single brick gable stack and a brick ridge stack with four octagonal shafts, as well as brick dentilated eaves and ashlar quoins.

The farmhouse is two storeys plus an attic, with a west entrance front that has three bays. The central feature is a 19th-century white brick gabled porch with ashlar coping and a four-centred arched doorway. This is flanked by single glazing bar sashes, with three more glazing bar sashes above. Above again, there are two gabled dormers, each containing a two-light glazing bar sliding sash.

To the south, there is a projecting, lower two-storey wing that includes a half-glazed door, a tripartite sash, another half-glazed door, and a smaller plain sash, all with timber lintels. Above this wing, there is a two-light glazing bar sliding sash and a gabled dormer with plain casements.

The east front features, to the north, a pair of glazed double doors, a small plain sash, a glazing bar sash, and a half-glazed door, all with segment brick lintels. Above, there are two glazing bar sashes with flat brick heads. To the south, there is a single-storey wing with a pair of large glazing bar double doors, and on the east gable front, there is a two-light casement alongside a two-light glazing bar sliding sash.

The gabled street front has two glazing bar sashes, with a round-headed sliding sash above, and a small circular window in the gable. The interior retains original beams and roof timbers.
