Description

Kesteven and Sleaford Girls High School is a Victorian building in the Jacobean style, constructed by Charles Kirk for himself before 1850. The structure is three storeys high and made of stone, featuring three gables, with the central gable being moulded. Each gable has one window on the top storey and is topped with a finial. There is a string course between the second and top storeys. The sides of the building have two-storey canted bays that include mullion and transom windows, also adorned with finials on the balustraded parapets, which are connected by a stone course. The central section of the building slightly projects forward and is accented with rusticated quoins.

The round-arched doorway is flanked by plain pilasters and features a keystone above a window with four mullion and transom lights. A moulded string course runs between the ground and first floors, with steps leading up to the entrance. There is an ornamental iron railing in front of a low stone wall, along with foot scrapers. The building is part of a group that includes Nos 58 to 64 on the same street. Additionally, two pre-Conquest fragments of interlace, likely from the 11th century, are built into the wall.
