Description
Nos 53 and 53A on Southgate are 18th-century buildings that stand three storeys tall, constructed from painted brick and topped with a modern cement pantile roof. They feature brick stacks at the gable ends and a wooden eaves cornice. The three windows have painted brick voussoirs and fluted keystones, with no glazing bars. There is one modern shop front and one 19th-century shop front with modern glazing. To the right, there is a segmental carriage archway. Nos 51 to 67 (odd), including No 53A, form a group.
