Description

This is a milepost located 20 metres south of Ashby Lodge Farm, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and has a triangular plan with a chamfered top, featuring raised lettering. The milepost is inscribed with "Parish of Ashby. LONDON 122" on one side, and indicates distances on the north face as "To SLEAFORD 7 MILES" and on the south face as "To LINCOLN 10 MILES." It appears that this milepost was placed on the wrong side of the road, as Lincoln is to the north and Sleaford to the south. Ashby Lodge Farm itself is not included in this listing.
