Description

The Tally Ho is a public house dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the mid-19th century for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. The building is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble, featuring ashlar quoins and dressings, and has a Collyweston slate roof with raised stone coped gables. It has a single storey plus attics and a three-bay front with a plinth and a first-floor band.

The central entrance consists of double planked doors with a plain overlight, set within a chamfered ashlar surround topped by a moulded hood. This is flanked by single three-light mullioned windows. In the roof, there is a cross mullioned dormer window, flanked by single two-light mullioned windows. All windows feature chamfered mullions and surrounds, as well as moulded hoods. The gabled dormers have raised stone coped gables and ashlar cheeks, and the central gable displays a blank shield-shaped plaque.

To the right of the main building, there is a single-storey service block with a pent roof that contains a single fixed rectangular light. Inside, the pub retains chamfered girders with run-out stops and two early 18th-century softwood cupboard surrounds, which have fluted pilasters, semi-circular heads with key blocks, and dentillated cornices.
