Description
The Kennels is a mid-19th century building that was constructed as part of the Aswarby Park Estate for the Whichcote family. It features colourwashed brick with some ashlar dressings, slate roofs, and a single red brick wall stack. The structure is a single range with a central entrance passage, flanked by single fenced courts. The front is a single storey with three bays; the central bay has an open pediment supported on ashlar imposts. A central planked door is flanked by two similar doors, each with plain overlights, impost blocks, and segmental arched heads. The central gable features a plain top-hung casement window flanked by narrow fixed lights, all with segmental arched heads. Above the gable is a small plaque displaying the Whichcote crest. The kennel is accessed through an archway that has a pedimented ashlar lintel. On either side of the archway are slender wrought iron screens with spearhead finials, which terminate in square brick piers topped with coped ashlar.
