Description
North Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge built for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. It is constructed from coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, and features slate roofs with lead dressings and raised stone coped gables adorned with moulded kneelers. The building has pairs of wall and ridge stacks with octagonal funnels and moulded cornices, and is designed in an L-plan.
The lodge has a two-storey, irregular two-bay front, with the right-hand bay being advanced and gabled. On the left, there is a triangular-headed planked door framed by an engaged shafted surround and a chamfered hood, set within a gabled porch that has a raised stone coped gable and moulded kneelers. To the right, a canted bay window features a hipped ashlar roof and plain casement windows. On the first floor to the right is a matching two-light chamfered mullioned window with a moulded hood. The left side includes a rectangular bay with a hipped ashlar roof that matches the front, while the right side has a gabled two-light mullioned oriel window.
