Description
The gateway and railings to North Lodge were built in the mid-19th century for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar copings and cast iron elements. The gate features plain styles and saltire braces, adorned with paterae at the junctions and curled terminals on the sides. It is flanked by single square gate piers that have plinths, roll moulded angles, and pyramidal copings, which display the Whichcote cypher. On either side of the gate, there are low walls topped with two-bar iron railings that match the gate, complete with pendent chains and ending in squared piers with chamfered sides.
