Description
The farm buildings at Barrow Hill Farm date from the mid-19th century, with some alterations made in the 20th century. They were constructed for the Whichcote family of Aswarby Park. The buildings feature coursed squared limestone rubble facing, with ashlar quoins and dressings, and red brick in English bond at the rear. The roofs are made of asbestos sheets and have raised stone coped gables with moulded kneelers.
The layout consists of a rectangular plan with four crew yards surrounded by various ranges, a pigeoncote, and a barn. The park front includes two single-storey ranges connected by a two-storey pigeoncote. The left-hand range has three planked doors with timber lintels, and there are single openings and flanking gables on either side. The pigeoncote features a two-light chamfered cross mullioned window with a moulded cornice, and it has a timber flight tower with a pyramidal roof on top. The end gables have blank openings with plain ashlar lintels. This site served as the home farm for the Aswarby estate.
