Description
The lychgate to St Oswald's Church was built in 1883 by G F Bodley. It is constructed of timber and features a plain tile roof adorned with ornate curly bargeboards. The structure has three posts on either side that rest on chamfered stone bases. It includes moulded four-centred arched tie beams, one of which is inscribed with the words, 'ERECTED IN MEMORY OF FLORENCE CHAPLIN, 1883'. The tie beams are supported by carved brackets, with curved queen posts and a small collar above. The gates are decorated with keyhole-shaped piercings.
