Description

Lloyds Bank consists of two buildings located on Northgate, with the southern part dating from the late 17th century. This section is two storeys tall, constructed in ashlar with rusticated quoins, and features a modern slate roof with stone stacks. It has a coved eaves cornice and two later dormers. The building sits on a plinth and has three windows with original glazing bars, bolection stone frames, and elaborate keystones adorned with masks. A bolection moulded band runs between the storeys, and there is a segmental pediment above the central ground floor window. The door is framed by a moulded and carved bolection cornice with an acanthus leaf keystone.

Adjoining to the north is a modern building dated 1904, which has a somewhat similar style. This building is also two storeys tall, built in ashlar with a modern green tile roof. It features a moulded blocking course, a modillion cornice, and a broken pediment. The ground floor has three windows with segmental pediments and a carved frieze, while the windows are hung sashes with glazing bars. The ground floor is channelled, and the first floor displays a coat of arms with mantling. To the right, there is one window in a shouldered architrave with a triple keystone beneath a broken pediment, flanked by panels and featuring an iron guard over the doorway, which has an open segmental pediment with a coat of arms and mantling. The entrance is flanked by block rusticated pilasters with Ionic capitals and a triple keystone, leading to panelled double doors. The left-hand ground floor windows have panelled bases with vermiculated rustication.

The buildings at numbers 2 to 12 (even) form a group.
