Description

Carr Dyke Farmhouse and the attached outbuilding date from the mid 18th century and early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick with pantile roofs, featuring brick coped gables and kneelers on the main block. The farmhouse has a T-plan layout, is two storeys high, and has a main block with three bays and a first-floor brick band. The central doorway contains a 20th-century glazed door with an overlight, flanked by single margin light sash windows. Above the door, there are two similar sashes on either side of a slightly narrower sash. All openings have brick segment-headed wedge lintels.

To the right of the main block is a two-bay, two-storey extension that is slightly lower, with a blank ground floor and two margin light sashes on the upper floor. At the rear, there is a five-bay, two-storey wing featuring glazing bar sashes throughout and a central round-headed doorway with rusticated ashlar blocks around the arch, which includes a 20th-century door and fanlight above. A brick coped, ramped wall with a gate at the eastern corner connects to a small single-storey L-plan outbuilding that has three plank doors.
