Description
Eastfield Farmhouse and the adjoining stable block to the rear were built in 1796 for the Carrington Estate, with a rear wing raised in the 19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick and topped with pantile roofs, forming an L-shape. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has three symmetrical bays. The central entrance features a 20th-century part-glazed door with a plain overlight, set beneath a segmental brick arch. The 19th-century windows are four-pane flush sashes with stucco sills and segmental arches. The gables are stone-coped with shaped kneelers, and there are end stacks, one of which is rendered.
On the left side of the farmhouse, there is a single brick band across the gable at eaves level, with a circular recessed panel above that bears the inscription: "PRAY PLAY and SING GOD SAVE THE KING." The left return forms the east side of the stackyard, which includes a single-storey stables/granary with an attic on the left, raised to two full storeys on the right, comprising six bays. The stable features plank doors on the left, a blocked door, and part-glazed doors on the right, along with three inserted windows in original openings, all with segmental brick arches from 1796. There are two blocked breathers in the stable and five recessed plaster oval panels above. A 19th-century dormer is present on the left, and the gable is brick-coped. The interior has not been investigated.
