Description

Willsons Cottages at Newport Cemetery are caretakers' cottages built in the early 18th century, with some alterations from the 19th century and incorporating fragments of late medieval worked stone. The cottages were restored in the late 20th century. They are constructed of dressed stone and ashlar, featuring slate roofs and a stone ridge stack. The gables are coped with kneelers and crosses. The building is single storey plus garrets and consists of three bays.

The south front has a central gabled doorway with a chamfered surround and a studded door, which is adorned with a mask above it. On either side of the doorway, there is a single stone mullioned window. The west end features a single window to the left and a mullioned window to the right, with a central mullioned window above and two masks. To the right, there is a crocketed gabled finial. The east end has a plank door to the left and two windows to the right, all with wooden lintels. Above these, there is a 2-light casement and a single unglazed window. The interior has not been inspected.
