Description

This is a section of Roman wall, dating to the 2nd century and later thickened and raised in the 4th century. Constructed of herringbone coursed and random rubble, it measures approximately 8 metres long and 3 metres high. The wall originally formed part of the defensive wall around Colonia, and was strengthened in the 4th century. The structure was consolidated in the mid-20th century. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (County No. 17).
