Description
Burghersh Chantry is a former chantry house that has been converted into a residential home. It dates back to 1345 but was rebuilt in the mid-18th century, with a 19th-century addition at the rear. The building features dressed stone and ashlar, with both ashlar and brick dressings, and has half-hipped and gabled plain tile roofs, along with single gable and side wall stacks. There is a chamfered plinth, and the structure consists of two and three storeys across four bays. The sash windows include glazing bars, and most are topped with keystone lintels. The west front has a nearly central wooden Doric porch with a pediment and a panelled door, with a sash window above it. To the left, there is a sash window on each floor, with the upper window being smaller. The right wing is three storeys tall and features a first-floor band and a brick-coped gable, with two sashes on each floor, the second-floor windows having plain heads. The north wall contains a blocked medieval doorway. A medieval rear wing was destroyed by fire in 1965. The interior has not been inspected.
