Description
No. 45 on Steep Hill is a house that has been converted into a shop. It dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of brick with a dressed stone basement, stone dressings, and a pantile roof featuring two gable stacks. The building has a first-floor band, a brick-coped gable with kneelers, and a wooden gutter supported by iron brackets. It stands two storeys high, plus a basement and attics, and has three bays.
The central entrance features a renewed wooden doorcase with pilasters, a 20th-century panelled door, and a fanlight with a keystone. Flanking the entrance are two glazing bar sash windows, with the one on the right having an additional top light. Below this window is a barred cellar window. On the upper floor, there are three glazing bar sashes, with the central one being the smallest. All the sashes have rubbed brick heads with keystones. Above these, there are two segment-headed dormers with sliding sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
