Black Holt former Atomic Bomb Store: Testing Building

Black Holt former Atomic Bomb Store: Testing Building is a mounded and reinforced concrete structure from the 1950s, which was converted into a Safe Command Post in the 1980s. The building is buried and has a rectangular plan oriented north-south.

The exterior is mostly hidden beneath earth bunding, with double-leaf steel doors visible at both the northern and southern ends.

Inside, the building consists of a series of rooms finished with painted render, all accessed from a spine corridor that runs the full length of the structure. This corridor leads to various spaces including testing and dressing areas, an office, storage rooms, and plant rooms. Notably, a safe remains in place in one of the side rooms.
