Description

A mounded and reinforced concrete test building dating to the 1950s and converted to a Safe Command Post in the 1980s.

PLAN: the building is buried though is rectangular in plan orientated north-south.

EXTERIOR: the building is submerged within earth bunding. The double-leaf steel doors are visible at the northern and southern ends.

INTERIOR: the building, which is buried, comprises a series of rooms in painted render which are accessed from a spine corridor, running the full length of the building, leading to testing and dressing spaces, office, stores and plant rooms. A safe remains in situ in one of the side rooms.
