Description

A series of 18 D3 missile storage bays dating to the early 1960s.

MATERIALS: each bay is constructed of reinforced concrete and steel.

PLAN: the bays are reached via diagonally orientated access paths and are submerged within earth bunding. The interiors are rectangular in plan.

DESCRIPTION: these are comprised of mounded earth covered reinforced concrete missile storage bays. The bays are accessed via horizontal rolling doors. The interiors are painted concrete with exposed concrete beams supporting the roof. The dedicated ventilation system pipework remains and runs along the upper side of the north wall.
