Description
Black Holt former Atomic Bomb Store consists of a series of 18 D3 missile storage bays built in the early 1960s. Each bay is made of reinforced concrete and steel. The bays are accessed via diagonally oriented paths and are set within earth bunding, making them partially submerged.
The storage bays are covered with mounded earth and feature horizontal rolling doors for access. Inside, the walls are painted concrete, and the roof is supported by exposed concrete beams. A dedicated ventilation system is present, with pipework running along the upper side of the north wall.
