Description

The Black Holt former Atomic Bomb Store is a weapon inspection building constructed in 1959. It is made of reinforced concrete and brick.

The structure is mostly buried under earthen mounding, with its rectangular roof exposed. It can be accessed via straight alleys from the east and west. Approaching the building, you will find brick and concrete-lined paths that feature inset concrete panels. The entrances consist of double leaf steel doors, which are protected by flat-roofed overhangs. Inside, the space is large and open, supported by concrete buttresses and exposed steel beams that hold up the concrete roof. The dedicated ventilation system machinery and pipework are still in place.
