Description

A weapon inspection building dating to 1959.

MATERIALS: the building is constructed of reinforced concrete and brick.

PLAN: the structure is near-submerged within earthen mounding, but the roof is exposed and is rectangular in plan. It is approached by straight alleys from east and west.

DESCRIPTION: the building is approached from either side by brick and concrete-lined approaches which also have inset concrete panels. Then entrances are double leaf steel doors which are sheltered by flat roofed overhangs. The interior is one large space with concrete buttresses and exposed steel beams supporting the concrete roof. The dedicated ventilation system machinery and pipe-work remains in situ.
