Description

Nos 82 and 84 Upgate are mid-19th century buildings that stand three storeys tall and are constructed of red brick with a Welsh slate roof. The façade features five windows with bands that continue to the cills, and there are carved flat stucco arches above the hung sash windows, which include glazing bars. The window in the centre of the top floor is blocked. On the ground floor, there are two later rectangular bay windows. The centre of the building has an elliptical carriage arch set in a stone surround, which is flanked by doorways that have attached Roman Doric columns and entablatures with triglyphs. These buildings are part of a group that includes Nos 70 to 104 (even).
