Description
54 Westgate is an irregular two-storey L-shaped building with origins dating from the early 19th century or late 18th century, featuring later additions and alterations. Constructed from brick, it has a pantile roof. Most of the windows are hung sashes with glazing bars. The left-hand wing includes a later 19th-century two-storey bay, a blocked window, and one three-light hung sash with glazing bars. There is a band between the storeys and a 19th-century bay on the ground floor. The entrance consists of a six-panel door with a rectangular fanlight, located in the angle with a flat roof that breaks forward to the right, with one window and one blocked window on each face. The right-hand wing, dating from the early 19th century, has a hipped Welsh slate roof and features two storeys with two windows, also hung sashes with glazing bars. The side is rendered. The Westgate elevation displays a gable with tumbling-in and kneelers, with one window on each storey, featuring a stucco arch with a keystone and no glazing bars. This building is listed as part of a group, which includes Nos 44 to 66 (even) along with Nos 82 and 84.
