Description
Numbers 18 and 20 Mercer Row are a pair of later 18th-century, four-storey brick houses located on the south side of Mercer Row. They feature a deep eaves cornice supported by paired brackets. The façade includes five windows with hung sashes set in plain reveals, flat stucco rusticated heads, and plain cills that are linked to create continuous bands. Originally, the ground floor had a double bow fronted shop, which was slightly off centre. There is a passage at the east end of the ground floor. The house and shop have since been divided. The west window has been updated with modern glazing and a door but still maintains its original form, while the east bow retains its original glazing bars. Numbers 18 and 20 are part of a group of buildings.
