Description
ROUGHTON MARTIN TF 26 NW 7/38 Martin Hall G.V. II Incorrectly shown as Martin House on OS map.
Small country house. Late C18 with early C19 alterations and extension. Rendered red brick with slate roofs having raised stone coped gables with kneelers and 2 gable and one wall stack. The addition to left has a hipped end and slate roof with lead dressings. The main block is of 3 storeys and 3 bays having paired brackets to eaves, with central half glazed door and plain overlight covered by a stone porch supported on pairs of square Doric columns, with plain frieze and low pedimented lead roof, flanked by single glazing bar sashes to ground. To first floor are 3 shorter glazing bar sashes and to second floor are 3 square similar windows. To left is a 2 storey addition with to ground floor a canted bay with tall french windows and fixed lights separated by facetted mullions supporting a hipped slate roof with lead dressings. To first floor are 2 glazing bar sashes. All windows have low cambered heads and stucco lintels with fluted key blocks on the main block.
