Description
Manby Hall is a small country house that dates from the 16th century, with later additions from the mid-18th century and 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick, mostly covered with cement render, and features slate and pantile roofs with stone coped gables, kneelers, and moulded eaves. At the rear, there is a large 16th-century ridge stack with four tall angle shafts, along with a single brick ridge stack. The house has a T-shaped plan, with an early 19th-century range added into the north re-entrant angle and a low 18th-century lean-to to the east.
The house is two storeys tall with a garret and has a three-bay west front that includes a first-floor ledge-shaped band. There are three glazing bar sash windows on the ground floor and three more above, although they are all in fragmentary condition. The southeast front from the 18th century features two projecting bays to the left under a single gable, with a first-floor ledge-shaped band. To the left, there is a doorway with a reeded doorcase and a deep-set panelled door, accompanied by an inner panelled doorcase surround. To the right, there are two glazing bar sashes, with a doorway beyond that has a glazing bar door, and another glazing bar sash to the right. Above, there are four glazing bar sashes, with a small garret window in the gable. The interior has not been inspected, and the building is currently in a severe state of dereliction.
