Description
The stable block at Martin Hall is a late 18th-century structure that was extended in the early 19th century and altered in the 20th century. It is built of brick and features a monopitch slate roof. The building is single storey and consists of seven bays, with the central bay being more prominent. This central bay has a large basket-shaped arch that contains double planked doors beneath a semi-circular blank arch.
On either side of the central bay, there is a single semi-circular headed opening, and beyond these are a later pair of narrower openings with a circular light positioned centrally above them. On the left side, one opening is blank and has a fanlight above it, while the other two openings contain stable doors, each with later fanlights. On the right side, there is a 20th-century sliding garage door, with two blank doorways beyond it. All the arches feature key and impost blocks.
The stable block is connected to the main house by a curving coped brick wall that includes a planked door with a fanlight, a flat arched window, and a second fixed light with a fanlight. This building is listed for its group value only.
