Description

Reg Archer Fish and Chip Shop is a shop with accommodation above, now functioning as a shop with an upstairs restaurant. It dates from the late 17th century to the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of colourwashed brick and red brick, topped with a concrete tiled roof that is hipped to the east and features decorated eaves and a single gable stack.

The shop has three storeys and a two-bay front, showcasing an early 19th-century shop front. To the right, there is a doorway with a moulded doorcase, a large overlight, and double partially glazed doors. To the left, a rectangular projecting shop window has three central lights flanked by single lights, each with a semi-circular traceried head, and is panelled below with a continuous moulded entablature above. On the upper floors, there are two plain sash windows with segmental heads, above which is a painted brick band, and two additional plain sashes.

The doorway to the upstairs restaurant is integrated with the shop front of No.7 and features a semi-circular head, a moulded doorcase, a panelled soffit, a plain fanlight, and double panelled doors, with the upper panels having semi-circular heads. At the rear, there is a late 17th-century wing with coped and tumbled gables.
