Description
57 and 58 Market Place is a shop building dating from the mid-17th century, with a refronting from the late 18th century and 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of painted brick and has an asbestos sheet roof.
The exterior features three storeys and a three-bay front with a plain parapet. The shop front is from the 20th century. On the first floor, there are three plain sash windows, while the second floor has three two-light casement windows. All openings are topped with flat wedge lintels. The building has a twin hipped roof with a central valley, and the rear elevation displays interrupted bands in the 17th-century Fen Artisan style.
Inside, the first-floor front room includes arched surrounds to the fire recesses, and the second-floor room features reset 17th-century wainscotting.
