Description

The Statue of Herbert Ingram, located in the Market Place of Boston, was created in 1862 by Alexander Munro. It features an allegorical figure cast by Elkington. The statue is made of stone and stands on a pink granite plinth. At the front, there is a niche containing a bronze female figure pouring invisible water from a vase, which likely references Ingram's efforts in providing a new water supply to Boston. Herbert Ingram, who passed away in 1860, was the founder of the Illustrated London News in 1842 and served as the Member of Parliament for Boston.
