Description
Rochford Tower House is a house built around 1807, with an extension added in 1860 and some minor alterations. It is constructed of brick, with parts that are stuccoed and colourwashed. The roof is made of Westmorland slate, featuring a stone-coped gable, while the rear wing has a pantile roof. The house has an L-plan layout and stands two storeys plus a garret, with a four-bay front that includes a slightly advanced entry bay, a plinth, and a dentillated timber eaves cornice. The left bay is an addition. The entrance features an off-centre six-panelled door with a plain overlight, framed by a wooden architrave and supported by scrolled brackets beneath a narrow leaded hood. To the right of the entrance is a canted bay window with glazing bars and a flat lead roof, while to the left are two additional glazing bar sash windows. The first floor has five similar windows. The house was built after the demolition of the hall block that was previously attached to Rochford Tower.
