LONG WHATTON WHATTON HOUSE GROUNDS SK 42 SE 5/218 Serpent vase in Chinese garden GV II
Garden ornament. Late C19. Of Chinese or Japanese origin. Bronze vase of lotus shape, with a serpent entwined around it. On hexagonal stand of 3 tiers, the lowest tier with mask heads at each corner. Hexagonal stone plinth, part smoothly dressed, part rough-hewn. One of a series of ornaments collected for the garden by the first Lord Crawshaw c1890-1900.
