Description

This is a milepost from the mid-19th century located on Ashby Road in Long Whatton. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised black lettering. The milepost has a triangular shape with a stop below the upper inscription. It is inscribed with "LONG WHATTON PARISH, REMPSTONE 7 MILES, ASHBY-DE-LA-ZOUCH 9 MILES." Additionally, there is a small oval plaque on the stop that reads: "WOOTTON BROS, IRON WORKS, COALVILLE."
