Description
This milepost, located on Ashby Road in Long Whatton, dates from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and painted white, featuring raised black lettering. The milepost has a triangular shape with a stop below the upper inscription. It is inscribed with the distances to Shepshed Parish and Rempstone, both 8 miles away, and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, also 8 miles away. Additionally, there is a small oval plaque on the stop that reads "WOOTTON BROS., IRON WORKS, COALVILLE."
