Description
This is a house dating from the early 18th century, with an extension built around 1830, and alterations made in the 20th century. The house is constructed of brick, with some areas rendered and painted. The rear wing has a thatched roof, while the later front block has a slate roof.
The front of the house has a central four-panel door with a fanlight above. To the left of the door is a sash window with glazing bars, and to the right is a square bay window with sash windows and a slate roof. Above these windows are two further sash windows with glazing bars. The east wall has two windows with two lights each, which are sliding sash windows. The south gable wall was rebuilt in the 20th century and has two casement windows with glazing bars on the ground floor, and one similar casement above. The west front has a central doorway with a 20th-century thatched hood. To the right of the doorway is an original segment-headed casement window with glazing bars, and to the left, a 20th-century three-light casement window. Above these are two through-eaves eyebrow dormer windows: the left has a two-light casement, and the right has a sliding sash window with leaded lights.
Inside, the rear wing features chamfered oak spine beams. The original roof structure survives, though the south end has been rebuilt, incorporating original ridge pieces, purlins, and wall plates. The early 19th-century front range has a staircase with stick balusters, turned newels, and a moulded handrail.
