Description
The Cedars is a former hosiery workshop and cottage, with a later house extension, dating from the mid-19th century, with additions in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick with plain tiled roofs and two brick chimneys. The long workshop range features horizontal sliding sash windows with wooden glazing bars; the lower windows have segmental header arches. The ground floor includes a five-light window, a seven-light window, and a window on the left that has been altered to a 20th-century three-light wooden casement. The first floor has two two-light windows to the left, and three other windows with six, five, and four lights respectively. A flush-panelled door is set within a moulded architrave frame with a flat wooden hood, positioned between the ground floor left windows. A 20th-century door and a blocked doorway are located to the right. A lean-to has been added to the right end. The later house block contains two bays of four-pane sashes with wedge lintels, French doors on the left, and a six-panelled door within a moulded surround on the right. The interior door and window surrounds are reused from elsewhere.
