Description
Potwells Farmhouse, along with Potwells barn and farm buildings, is an early 18th-century farmhouse constructed with Flemish bond brickwork set on a chamfered ashlar plinth. The building has two storeys and features a three-unit baffle entry plan, although the eastern end may have been rebuilt, and the western end has been raised by 3 to 4 feet. The entrance includes a six-panel door sheltered by a lattice work porch. The windows are triple light casements that are flush with the wall, and there are stone quoins on the western end. The house is built into a slope, and at the lower western end, the plinth has a blocked two-light mullion window.
Surrounding the farmhouse and forming a courtyard are various farm buildings, including stables, constructed in red brick. One of these buildings was converted into a dwelling in the early 21st century. These structures are also built into the slope and feature additional entrances at a higher level, away from the yard.
