Description
The Post Office, located at No 77 on Market Street, features a facade from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of red brick, accented with a stone band, eaves cornice, and blocking course. The roof is not visible. The ground floor is faced with stone and the building stands three storeys tall with two windows. The windows are sashes with late 19th-century glazing and have stone architraves, while the first-floor architraves are moulded and include labels. The ground floor is adorned with a dentil cornice, frieze, architrave, and end stops. The facade has a symmetrical arrangement of three windows, with an entrance on each side; the western entrance leads to a rear passageway. The building is included in Grade II for its group value.
