Description
The National Westminster Bank, located at No. 1 Church Street, is a building from the late 19th century. It features a red brick facade with a tiled roof and stone detailing, including an eaves cornice, band, and quoins. The structure has three storeys and five windows, which are sashes without glazing bars. The first and second-floor windows have panelled lintels with large keys, while the ground floor windows are framed by stone architraves. There is a side door adorned with a dentil cornice supported by consoles. This building occupies an important focal position at the junction of Dig Street and Church Street/St John's Street. It is part of a group that includes Nos 1 to 15 (odd) and The Corner House.
