Description

Number 5, St John’s Street is a mid-19th century building, faced in stucco with a projecting eaves cornice, and covered by a tiled roof. The building is divided into two parts. The south-west section is two storeys high with four windows. These windows are sash windows without glazing bars, set within stone/stucco architraves. A later shop front has been added. To the north-east is a three-storey section, where the eaves cornice features a scroll frieze. This section has four windows, set within moulded architrave surrounds with cornices on console brackets, particularly noticeable on the first floor. A fine, contemporary shop front features slender, round-headed cast iron pillars dividing the window lights. Numbers 1 to 5 St John’s Street are understood to form a group.
