Description

This is a late 18th or early 19th century building on Market Street. It is constructed of red brick with a rusticated stucco ground floor. A stucco band runs along the sill height of the first floor, and there is an enriched stucco eaves band, cornice, and blocking course. The roof is tiled, and the building has end chimneys.

The building has three storeys and originally three windows. The centre windows on the first and second floors are set within stucco architraves. All windows have gauged flat arches and sash windows, now with late 19th-century glazing. The ground floor features a 19th-century shop front. A large, angular bay with four lights (where vertical glazing bars remain) sits beneath an entablature with an enriched cornice, frieze, and architrave, which extends over the shop door to the east. A round-arched entrance to Court 17, marked with a metal nameplate, is located on the east side of the facade.
