Description
The Vicarage is a house built around 1838, located on Church Street in Donisthorpe. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings, featuring moulded string courses made of both stone and brick, stone-coped gables, and a plain tile roof. The building is two storeys tall and designed in the Tudor style. It has a double gable front with a stack that projects from the left gable.
A central porch, which is one storey high, has a Tudor arch and stepped angle buttresses leading to the front door. The house has various casement windows that include wooden mullions and transoms, along with stone hood moulds and sills. The windows have flat lintels and are set in a recessed canted brick frame. The left end of the house features a projecting central gable and similar windows. The rear of the house mirrors the front, with a lower 1½ storey wing on the left that has two stone-coped dormers, each containing 2-light casements.
Red brick ridge stacks are present on both the main gables and the wing, with two and four flues placed diagonally, topped with buff pots. The tops of the flues project and are finished with canted blue bricks on the underside. The Vicarage is contemporary with the nearby church and forms a group with it.
