Description

Donisthorpe Hall is an early 18th-century house located on Hall Lane in Donisthorpe. The building is constructed of red brick and features a twin span slate roof with linked ridge ends. It has stone-coped gables and a moulded stone cornice, along with two brick end stacks, the left-hand one projecting. The house is two storeys high with an attic and has five 9/6 sash windows on the first floor and two paired 9/9 sash windows below, all with cambered brick lintels.

At the center of the front is an early 20th-century Tudor style porch with stone dressings, an arched doorway, and a single light window on each side. On the left end, there is a tall attic casement window on either side of the stack. The right end features a small outshut, styled similarly to the porch, with a single light window at the front that contains the hall fireplace. There are also two attic 8/8 sash windows with cambered lintels.

To the right, set back, is a lower early 18th-century two-storey wing with three 9/9 sash windows, made of red brick and topped with a plain tiled gambrel roof and a rebuilt large central ridge stack. A contemporary outshut is located beyond this wing. The rear of the house includes an additional basement, with four 9/6 sashes above four 4/4 sashes and two casements underneath. The left window is tall, with a 20th-century glazed door below. In the wing, there are four 6/6 sashes above two renewed tripartite sashes and a two-light casement.

Inside, there is an 18th-century oak staircase with turned balusters, and the rear left room features 18th-century oak panelling with two fielded panels per bay, which is now painted.
