Description
No. 26 Devon Lane is a house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick and features a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and an attic, arranged in three bays. The bricks are laid in a pattern of four rows of stretcher bond followed by one row of Flemish bond. The south front has stepped brick clasping buttresses at the corners, with set-offs that align with the platbands above the ground and first floors. Brick pilaster strips mark the centre bay. There is an early 20th-century central door that is sheltered by a sloping pantiled hood. On either side of the door are three-light casements with arched heads, although the glazing bars have been removed from these windows. The first-floor casements are similar but still retain their glazing bars. The roof is gabled, featuring an external stack at the west end and an internal stack at the east end. A re-set datestone in the east gable head reads "1621."
