Description
Knipton Lodge is a house built around 1830. It is constructed of colourwashed brick and has a roof made of graded Cumberland slate. The east facade features two storeys and is divided into three bays, which are marked by broad, plain pilaster strips. The central bay projects and is topped with a pediment. There is a panelled central door with margin lights and a seven-vaned fanlight, all set within a timber trellis porch. Above the doorway is a sash window with glazing bars. The remaining windows are tripartite sashes, also with glazing bars. The building has an ashlar eaves cornice and a hipped roof, with twin stacks on the roof ridge. At the rear, there are later service ranges that are two storeys high, made of brick, featuring dormers, external stacks, and roofs of Cumberland slate.
