Description
The Post Office in Knipton, built around 1870, is a single-storey building with a dormer attic. It is constructed of brick and has a facade faced with coursed ironstone, with roofs made of graded Cumberland slate. The design features a one-bay gabled cross wing that projects to the right, which includes a canted bay on the ground floor and a three-light casement window on the first floor. The facade's windows are stone mullioned casements with shouldered heads. The entrance is located on the main elevation and has a stone surround with an overlight. To the left of the entrance, there is a single-light casement beneath a through-eaves gabled dormer that has a twin-light casement. The left bay of the building projects and contains a second gabled dormer, along with a three-light cross casement on the ground floor. Additionally, there is a post box set into the wall at the center of the front.
