Description
Church Cottages, located on Church Hill in Knipton, are two dwellings dating from around 1750. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone with limestone quoins and dressings, featuring a lobby-entrance plan and a roof covered with black glazed pantiles. It stands two storeys high with an attic and has a west side that consists of four bays.
On the ground floor, there is a 20th-century half-glazed door positioned to the right of the center, flanked by one 20th-century casement window on each side. The first floor has three 20th-century casements above the door and ground floor windows, with an additional casement to the left of the elevation. The roof is half-hipped and has a large stack positioned over the door, made of ironstone and limestone with a brick rectangular flue. To the left, there is a second 20th-century stack.
The north gable wall features vertical quoins and retains one casement on each floor, along with a 20th-century casement in the attic. The rear (east) side is illuminated by three casements on each floor, although the center one has been removed to accommodate a single-storey gabled 20th-century extension.
