Description

The stable range at Somerby House Farmhouse dates from the mid 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed and squared ironstone with limestone dressings and features slate roofs with coped gables. The building is single and two storeys high, measuring three bays wide by two bays deep, forming a U-plan around a stable yard.

On the single-storey north side, there is a central stable door flanked to the left by two three-light casements and another stable door beyond. To the right, there is a three-light casement followed by two stable doors. The two-storey west range has an off-centre stable door, while the south-west gable features a 19th-century casement above. The two-storey east range includes an off-centre fixed light with a wooden lintel, flanked to the left by a stable door with an overlight and segmental head, and to the right by a close boarded door. The east side has a casement in an altered opening to the left, and above to the right, there are two casements with segmental heads. This building is included for its group value only.
