Description
The South Stableblock Range, located 150 metres north of Somerley Park House, is a stableblock dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of yellow brick and features a slate roof. The building has a two-storey central section that measures three bays by two bays, flanked by single-storey sections on either end that each measure two bays by two bays.
In the centre, there is a full-height arched opening that has been infilled with half-glazed double doors and side lights, with a glazed area above that features a Diocletian window in the arch. On either side of this opening, there are 12-pane sash windows, and above them, there is a 6-pane sash window set beneath a pediment. The roof is hipped and includes a ridge cupola with a square plan, a clock on the south face, and a tented lead roof. The side sections also have 12-pane sash windows and hipped roofs.
