Description
The garden walls immediately behind Somerley House date from the late 18th century. They are constructed of brick with a moulded brick coping and feature some stone finials. The walls form a square-shaped walled garden, with one side extended to create two angled sections and a short end wall, which is designed as a prominent feature. The walls stand 3 meters high. A short section of the wall includes a central archway with stone keys and a pediment above it. Each side of this archway is flanked by a 10-meter length of wall leading to a pier, followed by a 3-meter length of wall that contains a blind archway. The piers are topped with acorns.
