Description
Ashley Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with 18th century and mid-19th century extensions and alterations. The walls are made of ironstone rubble, featuring large quoins, with some sections refaced in brickwork of English bond that includes blue headers. There is a 20th century brick plinth with slate weathering, a brick first floor band, and cambered openings. The rear has tile-hanging, while a 19th century wing is constructed of brickwork in Flemish Garden Wall bond. The roof is hipped and covered with tiles, with the lowest courses made of stone slates, and modillion eaves cornices at the front. The rear outshot roofs are covered with slate, and there are large end stacks. The symmetrical west front elevation has two storeys and three windows, with a lower wing on the north side that has two storeys and one window. The windows are sashes set in reveals, while the wings have casements. The plain doorway features a fanlight and a six-panelled door.
